A Lady’s First Sight of Michelangelo’s David

(Sorry, Wordsworth)

Earth hath not anything to show more fair.
Dull would she be of soul who could pass by
A sight so sexy in its nudity.
This David now doth like a garment wear
The beauty of his youthful body, bare.
Nipples and toes and thighs and temples lie
Open unto the gaze of passers-by,
All gobsmacked in the city’s smoky air.
Never does Hubby beautifully sweep
Into my room in such a déshabille -
Ne-er saw I, never felt, such warm and deep
A longing, never had so strong a thrill –
Dear God, imagine lying down to sleep
Beside a man like that, and lying still . . .
