My family really isn’t bad, I know they’ll watch my back
They’re who I always turn to when I feel under attack
But as I’m settling on the couch, expecting to be heard
Somebody else bursts into tears and gets in the first word

I’ve got a group of trusted friends, they’re loyal and they’re true
I count on them for comfort when I’m feeling sad and blue
But just as I’m about to ask for solace in my woe
Somebody else starts in on what they have to undergo

Someone’s an alcoholic, someone’s house is full of strife
And someone else’s husband has run off with someone’s wife
My troubles are so very small that I can plainly see
I really should be grateful that it’s never about me
