Today I'm grateful for the chance
To hear my children, fully grown,
Describe to me how circumstance
Has opened up their eyes and shown
Them stuff they don't recall I'd say.
My lessons fell upon deaf ears
When boldly they went on their way
Who knew it all (the teenage years) –
A trying time, I must admit,
But now the tide has truly turned:
Although I haven't changed a bit,
They can't believe how much I've learned!
