Janet had a degree from Ipswich,
with First Class Honours in Turning Up,
a self-assessed and student-centred
one year Full-time course
on Friday afternoons.
She found it difficult, she said,
with it demanding "so much time"
and saw her tutor who arranged
for her to telephone instead.
But even this was
"often quite impossible."
And so they gave her three months
Leave of Absence to be taken
scattered as necessity required,
and after this expired
and once more tension showed,
transferred her to the Distance Learning Mode,
which meant, of course, she finally
could cope with Turning Up
but didn't need to.
