Annie Fisher : Rondeau Redoublé for Kitty

(or 'If it's your round, Kit, mine's a double!’)

Nothing beats a glass of chilled white wine,
I'm also partial to an ice-cold beer,
A flagon full of cider would be fine,
But gin will be the death of me, I fear.

I know I drank too much last night. My dear
I'd wobble if I tried to walk that line!
The world looks fuzzy, but one thing is clear:
Nothing beats a glass of chilled white wine.

A Riesling made from grapes grown on the Rhine
Will tantalise the palate, so I hear,
For sparkling champagne I often pine,
I'm also partial to an ice-cold beer.

That Bloody Mary made me feel quite queer,
Is that your whisky or could it be mine?
I promise I won't drive (I couldn't steer!)
A flagon full of cider would be fine.

A small aperitif before we dine?
This hot mulled wine is full of Christmas cheer,
Brandy brings about a slow decline
But gin will be the death of me I fear.
