Daniel Galef: The First Bird-Feeder

Raymond Bessone
("Teasie-Weasie")
Knew some hair is just
Exquise-y.
Others’, less so:
Oily, cheesy,
Clumped and matted,
Looking sleazy.
Anyone
Would be uneasy,
Every human
Witness, queasy.
But to sparrows,
Paradisi!
On the wing
When dawn blows breezy?
Pre-made nest!
And easy-peasy,
Scavenging
A beard so greasy,
Even when
Its owner’s sneezy.
That’s why birds loved
Frank d’Assisi.
