Gail White: Y, Indeed

Strange are the ways of the Y chromosome.
It causes its bearers to wander and roam,
search out adventures, initiate wars,
invent new religions and settle old scores.

The Y causes blindness when looking for socks,
a liking for pub food and Scotch on the rocks,
a fondness for driving too fast in a car
and for sex in a clearly defined repertoire.

It causes enormous consumption of beer,
much bragging and boasting, and killing of deer,
obsession with football instead of the news,
with whining and cursing when favorites lose.

Yet with all the damage the Y thing can do,
I can't do without it. I'm married to You.
