Pam Lewis: Better Than Fifty

“For customers better than fifty . . .”
the glossy brochure archly stated.
It made ageing seem pretty nifty
and youthfulness much over-rated.

Advances in age mean more polishing.
Refinements add up with the years.
There’s no hint of any demolishing
or starting to slip a few gears.

And so now to all worse than forty,
whose bodies are healthy and strong,
who look and who act now so sporty.
Take comfort. It won’t last for long.
