Phil Huffy: Clause And Effect

The trouble’s in the choosing
if the choice is “that” or “which,”
a task I find confusing
or in coarser terms, a bitch.

How tough the writer’s mission
when unable to decide,
since uninformed ambition
has no counsel to provide.

From middle schoolers, muddled,
to old authors going gray
all hands appear befuddled
getting things the proper way,

yet seeking explanation
from what sources there might be,
creates exasperation
and requires a PhD.
