. . . is a picture frame historian – an area of expertise so small and esoteric that her social life is purely solipsistic. However, her imaginary world is such a raving hotbed of melodrama that she is almost able to forget that she is co-author of Frameworks: Form, Function & Ornament in European Portrait Frames, and to take pleasure in the number of poetry prizes for which she has been short-listed, without ever coming close to winning.
