I failed to find a wild night in Bohemia,
I toured Japan and never saw a dahlia,
but now I've found a land where milk is creamier,
much easier to get to than Australia.

Nostalgia! Nostalgia! All hail your golden light!
Where days are long, the tea's brewed strong,
and everything's done right.

We all go there when talking turns to bonhomie,
or when a storm curtails the electricity;
Much better than discussing the economy,
Nostalgia's great! We fly there with felicity.

Nostalgia! Nostalgia! You're comforting and warm!
We love to dwell inside your spell,
find shelter from the storm.

Old TV shows, kid's toys and breakfast cereals,
our schooldays, tricks on teachers, awful catering,
the art we made as kids with odd materials,
those part-time jobs, the sweeping-up and waitering.

Nostalgia! Nostalgia! The way things used to be.
Hot summer sun for everyone
and dripping toast for tea.

The family parties, weddings and that christening,
those bike shed moments learning physiology,
the things you said, not knowing Dad was listening,
then punishment and mumbling apology.

Nostalgia! Nostalgia! The place we love the best.
Escape today and sail away
to worlds forever blessed.

If only tide and time were freely biddable
and we could travel back there in reality,
I wonder if we'd find the past formidable
and live for now, content in our mortality.

Nostalgia! Nostalgia! Was everything so great?
Without your phone you'd be alone
and web-less. What a fate!
