The ostrich, while a stately bird,
Looks odd wherever seen,
With spindly legs and snake-like neck
And fluffiness between.
He doesn’t hide his head in sand
To vanish from his foes,
But pecking earth for grubs and seeds
Oblivious he goes.
His feathers once graced ladies’ hats;
Since then, the fashion’s changed:
In tasty ostrich burgers now
His body’s rearranged.
