(Desmoteplase, a drug derived from the saliva of vampire bats
has been trialled as a treatment for stroke patients. Wikipedia)

We want to derive a new drug from saliva
that comes from a vampire bat,
whose expectoration will cause a sensation
in him on whose brain it’s been spat.

Techs fresh out of school will draw vampire drool,
filling flasks with that promising spittle –
but with myths to dispel it’ll be a tough sell,
as consumers remain non-committal.

Expect non-compliance, since one thing that clients
aren’t hoping for anytime soon
is to be someone who Nosferatu got to –
or to splash around in his spittoon.

On the marketing side we must search far and wide
for endorsements from patients who’ve taken it.
Will investors come running? – or stop short, while punning:
“That company? I’d put a stake in it.”

Vmpie bat, mouth open showing teeth, red tongue, head on right.
