My carpet, although it's a real flying carpet,
is not very special to view,
just an average, dependable, real flying carpet
with space for one person or two.
I could fly it to Russia or China or Spain
or anywhere else on a lark.
The trouble is not how to get there. Oh, no.
The trouble is: where would I park?

I can’t leave it outside because it might rain,
which it frequently does over there.
And a wet, soggy carpet, as everyone knows,
is reluctant to take to the air.
Besides, if I leave it alone on the ground,
a stranger could come walking by
and stand on my carpet and say magic words
and manage to get it to fly.

Best leave it alone on the floor in my room
where the carpet is resting for now.
But it is good to know, if I ever have need
to go flying, my carpet knows how.
