A life spent with cats I will never regret,
They’ve meant more to me than some chaps I have met!
Still, were you to press, I would have to confess . . .
It’s a mystery to me – why must WE acquiesce?
No matter how recently fed, “Not enough!”
Cats greedily eat then throw up on your stuff.
Food savoured yesterday’s not “wow” today;
“A new flavour now!” their meows seem to say.
Cats can be loud and vociferous too.
Their litter is highly odiferous – phew!!
They wake you up early, then sleep half the day,
Plus they’re proliferous – please pay to spay.
Speaking of litter, it spreads everywhere;
Like glitter, it gets on the bed and your chair.
Your feet pick up more till you sweep the full floor.
Call me bitter, but all this I DO NOT ADORE.
Then there’s that (bleep) “IN or OUT” indecision:
“Keep the door open, please no supervision.”
“Do I or don’t I? Don’t rush me, I’ll pout.” . . .
Till your patience and temper are about to run out!
But although still befuddled by feline companions,
Cat cuddles help fill my heart’s caverns and canyons.
Would I do their bidding all over again?
Who are we kidding? With abandon! Say when!
