There are many ways to boil an egg
including standard, off-the-peg
methods such as pop them straight
among the bubbles, or else put

the eggs in while the water’s cold
and then turn up the heat. I’m told
there is no need to pussyfoot
and bake them in a muffin tin

or pressure cook, or steam. although
I watch each TV cookery show
for recipes which I’ll collate –
but in the meantime, while you wait

try poaching them instead, in gin.
